Revitalize Your Pet’s Comfort: Lexa’s Journey to Better Mobility
On June 26, 2024, we welcomed Lexa, a beloved 10-year-old pet who had been struggling with persistent right front limb lameness that had worsened over the past year and a half. Despite previous treatments, including monthly Librela injections and medications like carprofen and tramadol, Lexa’s condition didn’t improve as hoped. Her owner had even resorted to using a wagon to help her get around, as Lexa could no longer walk comfortably on her own.
To uncover the root cause of Lexa’s discomfort, we conducted a comprehensive evaluation, including detailed radiographs in collaboration with her primary care veterinarian. The findings revealed severe bilateral elbow degenerative joint disease (DJD), which helped explain the lameness. Additional findings included signs of degenerative disc disease in the lower back, mild hip DJD, possible joint effusion or soft tissue changes in the right tarsus, and moderate, chronic DJD in the left stifle, with potential issues like cruciate ligament rupture or patellar instability.
Given the complexity of Lexa’s condition, we recommended a tailored treatment approach that combined acupuncture and photobiomodulation (laser therapy) to address her mobility issues more effectively. Using our advanced FDA-approved photobiomodulation machine, along with a variety of acupuncture techniques such as aquapuncture and electroacupuncture, we targeted her painful joints for relief.
The results were remarkable. After just two sessions, Lexa’s owner reported significant improvement—Lexa was able to walk on her own without the wagon. By her sixth session, Lexa’s mobility had greatly improved, showcasing the powerful impact of our treatment plan. You can view Lexa’s improvements for yourself down below!
